Greenville, S.C. (May 4, 2015).— The Hincapie Racing Team announced its anticipated roster for the 10th edition of the AMGEN Tour of California, which kicks off May 10th in Sacramento and concludes 724 miles later on May 17th at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena. This will be the team’s first time racing the event.
The lineup includes Ty Magner, Oscar Clark, Toms Skujins, Andzs Flaksis, Dion Smith,Robin Carpenter, Joe Lewis and Joe Schmalz. Chief Sports Director Thomas Craven and Assistant Director Chris Wherry will guide team strategy. Rider photos can be found here.
“Receiving an invitation to the AMGEN Tour of California is an honor, and signifies what this team has accomplished in a short time,” said Chief Sports Director Thomas Craven. “We’ll be facing our toughest competition yet with some of pro cycling’s biggest teams and most accomplished riders, but our approach will be like any other event: we’re here to race.”
Under Craven, the Hincapie Racing Team ride with a resolve that resulted in 39 victories in 2014, highlighted by stage two of the USA Pro Cycling Challenge, plus wins in 2015 at the US Professional Team Time Trial National Championships, The Anniston Criterium and stage two of the San Dimas Stage Race.
“We’re not going to contest the overall but we’ll look to put ourselves in a position to win stages at every opportunity,” added Craven. “Ty Magner and Dion Smith will be in the mix on sprint stages and Robin Carpenter will be looking for opportunities on the strong man days. We have a roster that can factor into most every stage.”
