We started the final stage of the Tour of the Bahamas with Ty Magner on the top of the General Classification with a 5 second lead. The stage was five lap 75 mile circuit race with a dangerous cross winds. We knew that there was a good chance a group would get away, so it was important to stay attentive.

Half-way through the race, two attacks went out to form a 10 man group. Our riders AJ Meyer and Tanner Putt made it in the move, but so did danger men Frank Travieso, Luis Amaran and Brian Hill – all who were within 15 seconds of Ty on GC. Frank and Luis attacked the group and extended the gap to two minutes. It was time to bring it back together. Director Thomas Craven made the call at one lap to go and our boys went to the front of the peloton along with several guys from DC Velo Limited and shut down the break with 3K to go.
Luis Amaran put in one more attack in the finale, but Ty was right on his wheel covering the move. In the end, Ty finished 4th in the field sprint, holding on for the overall victory.

Starting the season off with a win is thrilling. But more importantly, it’s great to see the riders racing together as a team and executing a plan. We’re looking forward to the 2012 season and seeing what these talented young riders can accomplish together.
