Mike Stone Racing Tour of the Gila

Fresh off his recent Category 1 upgrade, Hincapie Development rider Mike Stone has headed west to race the Tour of the Gila in New Mexico.  Mike's going to be going against some of the best racers in the racers in the country...scratch that...best riders in the world thanks to the presence of Lance Armstrong, Levi Leipheimer and Jason McCartney.  Mike is riding like a real champ, so we are confident he's got what it takes to be competitive.  Best of luck, Mike!

Blair Turner 25th in First Belgian Race

Hincapie Devo Rider, Blair Turner is guest riding with a team in Belgium for a few weeks.  It’s his first trip to Europe racing his bicycle and he’s doing great.  He finished 25th in his first race this weekend.  We’re really proud of him.  Here’s what he had to say about the adventure.

“I finished my first race. I got 25th in this race in the hills. I almost made it up to the winning move with two to go. Still have to figure the racing out. Hard racing here, but it's good.”

Chris Butler Can Go For It

Former Hincapie Development Team rider, Chris Butler is BMC Racing Team’s newest professional.  Normally, the newbies are given the menial (and tiring) tasks of carrying water, fetching jackets from the car and pulling in the headwind for 50K’s.  Chris is getting a rare opportunity to show his stuff tomorrow in the Giro del Trentino in Italy.  Today, BMC has announced that they are going to give him a chance to shine on tomorrow stage that finishes with a 7.65km, 1,760m climb that averages 10%.  This is one of Butler’s strengths.  He goes up hill very quickly.  Tomorrow, he will be climbing with some of the world’s most reputable mountain goats and we know he will make us proud.  Best of luck on tomorrow’s stage, Chris!  Go For It.

Matt Lipscomb for Junior Paris Roubaix

Matt Lipscomb, one of our promising young junior riders on the Hincapie Development Team, is currently riding and racing in Belgium with the USA Junior National Team.  James Huang from Cyclingnews.com captured a few shots of Matt and the US Development Team training on the cobbles, as the team gets ready to race the junior version of Paris Roubaix.  Matt’s training in his Hincapie Devo kit, to save the stars and stripes for race day.  That’s what I’d do to, you know…if anyone asked me to go race in Europe with some of the best junior riders on the planet…ha ha.  Way to go, Matt.  We’re proud of you!
